As an archaeologist, I have spent years learning to identify and refine the rich botanical resources growing throughout the hills and valleys that surround our three rivers. Many plants among us today are the direct descendants of the foods and medicines which native people harnessed for thousands of years.
I feel fortunate to spend my workday deep within Pennsylvania's forested wonderlands. Here I gather the roots, barks, seeds and wildflowers that become the amazing soaps and balms that I share at local farmers markets.
